Hello! My name is Karen and I am the proud owner of Earth Ceramics. I make our beautiful ceramic cups in a small studio in our backyard set within the bush in Titirangi, Auckland. I live with my engineer husband James, two primary school aged children Oli and Sienna and our two pets, Rosie the spoodle and Doodle the cat.
I have always loved making and creating things and I was drawn to ceramics whilst being a stay at home mum to Oli and Sienna. Initially it was an opportunity to carve out time for myself during such a rewarding but challenging time. Over time I really developed a love for ceramics and the making process and for me this business is a chance to focus that passion from a hobby into a business.
I come from an environmental engineering background and am passionate about the environment and for me the decision to focus on reusable cups aligns with my desire to reduce the use of disposable cups in Aotearoa. I create our cups in small batches as time allows around other work commitments and family life and care is taken at each step to create a quality cup which I really hope brings the owner a moment of joy in their day!
